Farmington, Maine – UMaine-Farmington's baseball team is set to play Castleton University in the first round of the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) playoff's tomorrow at Castleton.

Why: Castleton (27-10, 21-3) claimed the No. 1 seed while UMF (13-19, 10-13) earned the No. 4 seed.
About a month ago, these two teams played a four games series with one game being played at Husson and the next three being played at Bridgton Academy. The Spartans took game one with a 2-1 victory.
Nate Pushard went six strong innings for the Beavers, giving up six hits and two earned runs while striking out seven. Kevin Carter knocked in the only run for the Beavers while Mitchell Caron and Matt Braman notched the RBI's for the Spartans. Joe Gratton went seven innings for Castleton, giving up three hits and one earned run and struck out six.
In game two, Castleton took a 6-5 victory with Zac Harrington threw four innings, giving up six hits and three runs. Aaron Smith went three innings, giving up two runs and struck out four. Pat Mumford, Alex Borsani, Mitchell Caron, Dillon Benham and Matt Braman each had an RBI in the game for the Spartans. Brett Elliot started on the mound for the Beavers, going 4.3 innings, giving up five earned runs. Kevin Carter went 1.1 innings to close out the game. Chase Malloy went 1-3 with two RBI's while Tyler Flayhan went 1-3 with one RBI.
The Beavers fell in game three by a final score of 9-3. The Beavers tied the game in the sixth inning followed by Castleton scoring six runs in the bottom of the sixth. Riley Chickering started on the mound for the Beavers, going 5.2 innings, giving up seven hits and nine earned runs. Ethan Nash finished the game and record one out. Jimmy Parks went 3-4 in the game with one run and one RBI while Chickering went 1-4 with an RBI.
Garrett Moran went six innings for the Spartans, giving up nine hits, three runs and struck out six. Aaron Smith closed out the game with one inning of work.
Jonathan Lindau went 2-4 with a run and two RBI's while Matt Braman, Mitchell Caron, Dillon Benham, Alex Borsari and Pat Mumford each tallied an RBI for the Spartans.
The Beavers took game four by a final score of 4-3. Freshman, Riley Bartell went 2-3 with one RBI while Jimmy Parks went 1-3 with two runs and one RBI. Nick Attalides-Ryan notched one RBI along with Riley Chickering who went 1-3 with an RBI.
Justin Rodrigue started on the mound for the Beavers going six innings, giving up three hits and three earned runs with four strikeouts. Gavin Arsenault went one inning to pick up the save. Charles Stapleford went three innings for the Spartans, giving up two earned runs with four strikeouts while Aaron Smith threw four innings, giving up two hits.
