UMF Defeats Husson 3-1 on Senior Day

FARMINGTON, Maine- The University of Maine at Farmington (7-2, 2-1) defeated Husson University (4-5, 2-1) on Saturday afternoon by a score of 3-1.  It was the Beavers first win over the Eagles since 2012.  Prior to the start of the game, UMF honored its two seniors Patty Smith (Gorham, Maine/Gorham) and Emily Lewia (Wells, Maine/Wells).

Emma Spahr (Winthrop, Maine/Winthrop) recorded her third hat trick of the season to lead the Beavers.  Spahr's scored her first goal in the 16th minute to put UMF in front 1-0.  The Beavers ended the first half exciting fashion scoring with 0:00 time remaining on the clock after earning a penalty corner.  Lee-Ann Greenleaf (Gardiner, Maine/Gardiner) set up Sparh's second goal to close out the half.

Husson got on the scoreboard in the 49th minute when Libby Kain scored on an assist from Lauren Russell. 

Emma Sparh closed out the scoring in the 53rd minute to put the game out of reach with an assist from Nickyia Lovely. This was Spahrs' 15th goal of the season.

Patty Smith made four saves to earn the win for the Beavers. Kaitlin Dolloff made five saves for the Eagles in the losing effort.  Husson held the edge in penalty corners 12-8.

UMF returns to action on Wednesday when they host non-conference rival St. Joseph's College
