FARMINGTON, Maine- Junior forward Emmah Spahr (Winthrop, Maine/Winthrop) and senior goalkeeper Patty Smith (Gorham, Maine/Gorham) were named Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week in field hockey for the North Atlantic Conference.
Spahr scored all three goals in UMF's 3-1 win over Husson on Saturday. The forward netted the first two goals of the game and then gave the Beavers an insurance goal at 52:46 to go up 3-1. The junior now has 15 goals on the season. This is the second Player of the Week award this year for Spahr.
Smith made four saves in UMF's 3-1 win over Husson, a team that is averaging 2.7 gpg. Earlier in the week, the keeper made 13 saves in 46:08 minutes of action against No. 2 Bowdoin, as she gave up four goals. This is the third time this season that Smith as been awarded Defensive Player of the Week.
UMF will host Saint Joesph's on Wednesday and then travel to Thomas on Saturday.
