UMF tops Eagles, notches NAC win

FARMINGTON, Maine -- The University of Maine at Farmington men's lacrosse team notched its first North Atlantic Conference win of the year with a 15-4 victory over Green Mountain College today at Prescott Field.

The Beavers (2-5 overall, 1-2 NAC) are scheduled to host Castleton State College Saturday at 12:30 p.m., while the Eagles (0-6, 0-3) are headed to Thomas College for a 1:15 p.m. match.

Brandon Melville (Farmington, Maine) scored four goals and an assist to pace the Beavers with Tennessee Peters (Scarborough, Maine) chipping in three goals and an assist and David Grainger (Lexington, Mass.) and Brandon Monroe (Oakland, Maine) added two tallies each. Matt Roy (Kents Hill, Maine) supplied three assists to go along with a goal in the win, while David Cram (Northbridge, Mass.), Michael Keim (Veazie, Maine) and Jake Linkletter (Athens, Maine) rounded out the scoring with a goal each.

Forrest Teutsch (Reading, Mass.) led the Eagles with a goal and an assist, while Chris Milholland (Freeport, Maine), Adi Partojoyo (Washington, D.C.) and Charles Petrick (Henniker, N.H.) each added a goal.

The Beavers outscored Green Mountain 5-1 in each of the first two quarters to take a 10-2 lead. Melville and Peters each posted a pair of scores in the opening. After an exchange of scores in the third, UMF netted the first four goals of the fourth, while holding the Eagles scoreless until the final 1:39 to close out the 15-4 win.

Hunter Rowell (West Paris, Maine) worked the first three quarters for UMF with two saves, while Aaron Burr (Brooklyn, Conn.) made one save in the fourth. Mike Foley (Byfield, Mass.) grabbed nine ground balls to lead the team.

Luke Carey (Brooklyn, N.Y.) made 12 saves for the Green Mountain. Carey was peppered by 44 UMF shots, while the Eagles took 14.
