Leib earns 400th victory at UMF

WORCESTER, Mass. -- University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer coach Bob Leib notched his 400th soccer win on Sunday as the Beavers collected a 3-0 North Atlantic Conference victory at Becker College.

In this his 31st -- and final -- season of coaching soccer at UMF, Leib ran his record at the helm of Beaver programs to 400-155-48. Since 1996, Leib has compiled a 140-61-14 record. He spent 25 seasons (1977-2001) coaching the men's squad, Leib was 260-94-34. He spent six campaigns leading both teams.

The Beavers improved to 3-3 (2-0 in the NAC), while the Hawks remained winless at 0-7-1 (0-2). UMF is scheduled to host the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Wednesday for a 4:30 p.m. match.

Amber Murphy (Manchester, N.H.) led the way for UMF with a pair of goals with Amanda Byrne (Winslow, Maine) earning the assist on both scores. Jackie Mrazik (Mount Vernon, ME) converted a feed by Jess Timmreck (Brunswick, Maine) to complete the scoring.

Murphy notched her first goal 5:13 into the contest with Mrazik's score at 27:50 giving the Beavers a 2-0 advantage at intermission. Murphy padded the lead 6:02 into the second half.

Kerry Kowalczyk (Topsham, Maine) and Ashley Holshouser (Berwick, Maine) split time in goal for UMF with Kowalczyk making a pair of stops and Holshouser recording one save.

The Beavers blistered Becker netminder Caitlin Faunce with 38 shots to the hosts' five. Faunce registered 19 saves.
