It was a beautiful day for a soccer game at Prescott Field when the UMF Beavers welcomed the Maine Maritime Mariners. It didn't take long for the competition to heat up when UMF's Ava Amador (Farmington, ME) decided to kick it up a notch when she tapped the ball into the goal with her heel while kicking backwards at 28:26. The goal was assisted by Kayla Tuttle (Waterville, ME) after her shot deflected off the cross bar. Tuttle made the second and final goal of the game unassisted during the first half at 39:32.
The UMF Beavers dominated in shots on goal outweighing the Mariners 16-2. Farmington's goalie Beth Lebel (Lewiston, ME) made two saves during the game. MMAs first goalie Taylor O-Malley (Middletown, RI) made eight saves, along with Kelsie Hilton (Monmouth, ME) who made eight saves as well.
UMF Women's Soccer is taking on Rivier for their next compitition at Prescott Field on Sunday September 18th at 2pm.
